OK, maybe I just got some rock terrain… In my life long effort to find more and better terrain for my gaming needs, I came across a large rock terrain piece at a local game convention flee market. Finding these, I decided I needed more and went to Amazon railroad terrain listings (a continuing source for wargaming needs).
The models are all are made of caste spray foam. This provides a very light weight terrain piece the is both rugged and detailed. If your looking for large rocks outcroppings, this is a great way to go.
All four pieces on Amazon that come pre-painted. There are also version that are primed grey. I went with the pre-painted versions. I got them in the mail and stuck them in a box. With my current push to finish my Egyptian terrain for pulp, I decided that I would finish these also (I have more that I will do in grey at some point in the future).
The models came with a basic shaded paint job. I was not satisfied with the look, so decided I would pimp them up to fit my table.
I started by covering the entire model with woodland scenics earth tone paint wash. I could probably have left it there, as these give great coverage and shading of terrain. They covered the neon green sections and gave a nice variable color look overall.
However, I decided to add some dry brushing to been with my other desert terrain (not that I cannot still use brown rocks in other areas). I hit each piece with a coupe of shades of tan. One of the models had some tree trunks. I decided to hit them with light grey to give the look of sun dried dead palm trees. Hit them with a sealer coat. Quick paint job and now I have some nice terrain to break up my boards.
