Epic Eldar Army

Posted on March 26, 2020

Well, looks like me gaming will be on hiatus for a while… So I need to spend more time on building and painting! For those of you that saw my earlier review of the new 40K Apocalypse rules from GW, know that I am now motivated to dust off my old miniatures and finish painting models that I have had in my collection for twenty years! So, the army that was in the best shape was my old Epic Eldar Army. I have gone through my older models and touched them up to get them ready for the game!

Biel-tan and Ulthwé craft worlds

All the infantry, jet bikes, gun platform and wraithlords are primarily first edition Eldar plastics (they never updated those models). All the vehicles were second edition models (I have to older first edition in a box ans may use them for Dark Eldar). I really love the last edition vehicles. The quality of castings for all the different armies was just amazing. I would be very happy if GW brought these back again, but that is probably unlikely… Fortunately for me, I bought a lot back in the day when they were on clearance, so will be in good shape in any case.

Aspect Warriors
A bit of magic.

I need to decide if I want to do any rebasing, as the last version of Epic had commanders added to stands as upgrades. For now, I will leave things as they were until I figure out what I want to do in that regard.

Alaitoc Jet Bikes

These models have been mounted on white metal bases (not the plastic ones that came with the last Epic game). I prefer the longer base to the much older square bases of the original edition. Since the models are small and white metal in magnetic, I find this a great way to go.

The Titans!

I went through the old models and fixed various model chips and finished flocking bases as needed. Looking at everything laid out, I may need to find some decals for the jet bikes, as they need something else on the cowl, but I will figure that out later once I decide what direction to go with the unpainted models that I still have for the army.

A little air support.

The current army has options from four craft worlds and most of the various aspect warriors. My old plan was to have forces from each craft world. I still may do that, but need to play a little more and figure out force compositions better before I commit to painting more of these models. I have time to do that, as I am working on some of my other armies as we speak to get them up to snuff!
