In Her Majesty’s Name – Rescue on the way to Zanzibar.

Posted on May 27, 2019

From the British Console’s Office in Brazzaville comes a notice of yet another abduction. This time, is is the daughter of a high ranking industrialist that was on safari with his daughter. Unfortunately, for Lord Strathmore, his safari promise was just a ruse by local tribesmen to exact payment from the Lord. His refusal to pay when threatened resulted in his eldest daughter being kidnapped from her hotel and wisked away into the jungle. Word has it that the local Zambitati tribe will take his daughter to Zanzibar and sell her into slavery, as a punishment to Lord Strathmore. This cannot be allowed! The notice has gone out to all would be adventures in the Brazzaville to find and return Lady Strathmore. Fame and fortune will be the great prize to anyone aligned with this quest. will surely be made rich and famous!  Beware, the jungle is not for the faint of heart. Any traveler will not only need to face the deadly Zamitati warriors, but the denizens of the jungle too…..

The game was set up with twelve clue markers spread out on the table. When any model (player or non-player) moved within four inches, it would trigger the marker. On a 10 the marker would be Lady Strathmore and D10 warriors, on a 7-9 the marker would be D5 wildlife (1-5 vultures, 6-10 dangerous gorillas or panthers), on a 1-6 the marker would be D5 warriors. On the first 1 rolled, the tribe witch doctor would be placed with the D5 warriors. The thee markers in the village would be rolled twice (counting only the highest roll), with 1-9 being D5 warriors and 10 being Lady Strathmore.

Players would receive 10VP for finding and exiting with Lady Strathmore. The team exiting with Lady Strathmore would receive an bonus 10VP. Killing models would provide 10VP for the Witch Doctor, 2VP for warriors, 2 VP for animals. Players would also get 10VP for acheiving their randomaly rolled secondary objective and would loose 1VP for every friendly model killed or loose 5VP if the killed model was a group leader. The game would end when Lady Strathmore was taken off the table or time ran out. In addition, two groups of crocodiles and one giant python were deployed on the table. They would sit still unless someone moved with D10 inches of them, in which case they would attack.

Each player entered from opposite sides of the table. Professor Esterhazy’s party made a bee line to the village to clear it and hopefully find Lady Strathmore. Colonel Wessley’s team opted to sweep the southern outskirts and sweep through the town and into the north country if Lady Strathmore had still not been found,

Professor Esterhazy’s plan worked well, he was able to move into the village and clear out all the local natives without much of a problem, but alas, no Lady Strathmore. He then decided to move south, as it seemed things were not going well for the Colonel.

The Colonel’s plan quickly turned into a bit of a mess. Wherever his team went, they ran into packs of wild animals. The desperately tried to clear them selves, but the large numbers of gorillas proved almost too much.

Only by the timely arrival of the Professor, did the tide turn. Both groups collected themselves and made a mad dash to the north, as they had still not found Lady Strathmore and time was running out!

Both teams advanced quickly, while Professor Esterhazy’s sharpshooters cleared all danger, by bullet or fist! All the clues had been cleared but one, yet still no Lady Strathmore. One last dash and Lady Strathmore was finally found, but too late…. She was whisked away into the jungle before her rescuers could close. Gathering their wits, the Colonel and the Professor planned their next move. Fortune was not with them on this day, buth their was always tomorrow and both men swore that Lady Strathmore would be found! But that is another adventure…..
