Cold Wars 2019

Posted on March 17, 2019

Just got back from this year’s HMGS Cold Wars convention in Lancaster Pennsylvania. The event was held in the Lancaster Host Resort (now called the Wyndham Host Resort) in Lancaster Pennsylvania. (same place it has been for over a decade). The hold has been under renovation (and new owners) for the last two years. This trip you can finally see things coming together, as most of the key rooms are mostly completed. This best is shown by the substantially improved lighting! Looks like by the next convention everything will have been finished. The hotel has come along way and the work that is still being done did not have a negative impact on the convention (something I could not say the last two events).

This year they had the normal gaming events spread out in different ball rooms, along with the painting university, presentations, a flea market and the vendor hall. All worth the trip. I played in a couple of games, sat through a presentation on game design, took a class at Hobby University on improving face painting on miniatures and did my share of shopping! Cold Wars is still probably my favorite convention, as it is almost as big as Historicon (which will be moving to a new location next year), but with fewer attendees (making it a less crowded). Always worth the trip. If you cannot stay over night, a one day trip is worth the drive.

With that behind me, check out some photos I took of games that caught my eye. Hope you enjoy!
