I was in Micheals doing some after holidays shopping and came across some fake plants that I had not seen before. They were marked way down, so worth a purchase! I always look for flower/plant types that can be trimmed flat on the bottom easily. This means I can just though them out of the table top without having to build bases for them. Being soft plastic, they are also very easy to store and set up. Being color moulded soft plastic, they are also very resilient and ill not wear out from use.

The first was a long wire insert that had green flowers at the ends. Each had four flowers. They would work as large spiky bushes, so I grabbed three sprigs. The others were these tiny flowers in small white pots. At 99 cents each, I grabbed all four they had. These were white pots with foam inserts and multipart plastic flowers.

I took them home and got to work while watching some TV. Using some snips, I cut off the spiky bushes from the stalks and threw out the stocks. The flower pots were a little harder, as I wanted to save the pots for some other use. The flowers popped off the stocks easily, by just pulling. Getting the foam out of the pots took a little more work (I ended up breaking on in the process), using a knife.

About thirty minutes of work and I now have some large spiky bushes and some alien looking low ground cover to add to my Sci Fi collection! Why spend a lot for custom hobby plants, when you can just get some cheap ones at a craft store!
