Somewhat of an eclectic mix, you may say…. Well, I was working on my paddy terrain and just saw these two minis sitting in my painting tray and decided I would knock them out, in between stages while working on the terrain!

The Ehrhardt is a 3d print that I ordered from Battlefield3d, for my WWI Germans. I had pulled this out to glue the machine guns on, when I was doing my landing craft, and just left it there. The raft was from Peter Pig, also pulled out when I was working on the landing craft. I had picked these up a while back with another orders and just needed some motivation to get them done. I tend to keep little projects at hand and just grab them when working on other things. That way, I have something to do while I am waiting for stuff to dry and can feel like I am accomplishing something by knocking them out!

I sprayed both when I did the paddy field base coat spraying. The armored car was sprayed with a light gray primer and the raft was sprayed with some Panzer Gray from PSC.

The raft was easy, just hit it with a heavy black wash and let that dry. The intent was to end up with a black looking finish. I then hit some of the details with some London Gray. The wood planks in the bottom were wet brushed with some brown. I sealed everything up with some Krylon Matt finish for a satin finish. So, I now have the larger raft to go with my two man version for the next river crossing game.

The armored car was hit with a GW black wash, after I painted the MGs, tires and vision slits black with contrast paint. I went into my decal collection and found some crosses and numbers and applied these to the model. Before I did that, I painted some gloss coat on the panes where the decals were to be applied. I then did a little tan drybrush here and there and finished up with a light gray drybrush overall. I sealed this with the same Krylon spray. A nice little model from Battlefield3d!

So, the reason for the eclectic mix, was that these two models were just on my painting tray and ready to go! In the end, I knocked out a couple of models while I was working on a larger project. Win win!
