With the release of the Flames of War Pacific book, I have been on a bit of a tear working on forces for the book. With that in mind, I went into my somewhat large stash of unpainted minis (OK, I may have a problem) and pulled out some log bunkers I bought a few years ago. These are resin models that I found on eBay. They were sold as a set of a dozen or more (I am too lazy to dig out the remaining ones and do a re-count), with each a different design.

I had originally bought these to do bunkers for the east front and the Pacific, but that work has been put aside for a while. They come in different sizes, so they can be used for MG. command and small gun fortifications. So a nice mix.

Well, now that I am in Pacific mode, I pulled out a subset of my collection and glued them to some standard medium and large FOW bases. Once that dried, I then hit them with some tan Krylon spray paint to prime them up.

The next step was to hit the ground areas with desert pumice from Vallejo. This is the same shade I use for my Pacific infantry, so I could use these for any army. Next came a wash on the full model. This was followed up by a couple of drybrushes to lighten the sand.

I wanted a jungle timber look, so I started by hitting all the wood with an Agrax Green wash. I then hit all the wood area with some light gray. I finished up the painting by hitting the inside of each bunker opening with black.

Now it was time to finish the basing. I painted the borders on each base with tan. Next came some mix turf, in irregular patterns. I then finished off my remaining leafy medium and dark green tufts, by adding a mix to each base. I finished with some spiky green tufts to give some more foliage height and variation. A little matt varnish spray to lock everything in and I have my bunkers ready to go!
