I finished off the winter camo planes with this set of FW-190s. These are Axis and Allies models that I got as part of a batch deal. They had different paint jobs, but I decided I would just use them as winter air support for my mid to late war Germans.

I started with a white primer and then a contrast white coat from GW. After that dried, I hit the models a heavy wet brush of white. I then hit the control surfaces with a pin wash and moved onto the details.

I started with some yellow on the fuselage and the wing tips. Being white, this went much better than the earlier planes! I then hit the engine and some other details with black. I added a red front to the propeller tip. The front engine detail was non-existent, so I figured the two color would work better for the propeller hub. I then hit the exhaust with some brown and painted the glass areas with some contrast blue. I then sprayed the model with some satin coat.

I actually painted these at the same time as my earlier I-16s, but I did not have the right decals to finish these. As such, I went online and ordered some and waited for them to arrive. Once I got them, I added all the crosses, numbers and squadron badges to each plane.

I then sprayed the models with satin finish again to lock in the decals. This was followed by gluing some magnets into the bottom and hand painting the glass cockpit areas with gloss coat. With that, I have finished my winter scheme airplanes. Now I just need to finish off a few more planes…
