While I was out of town on my last road trip, I swung by a hobby/craft shop in St. Louis (I do not remember the name). They had a rack with some holiday terrain on it. Amongst the packs, I saw two sets of brush trees. They were only two dollars, so I grabbed them both to add to my mobile terrain set. I would have liked to order more online, but they were in nondescript white packaging and the store did not know the manufacture…. I’ll just have to see if they get more the next time I am in St. Louis!
I had been looking for more brush style trees. I have a set of terrain that I refer to as my “travel terrain”. This is basically lightweight and extra rugged terrain that I can use in 20mm and smaller games. The idea is to have it fit into a single carry box, so it is easy to transport to other locations. I have an OK number of brush style trees, but most are on the large size (my first ones are old GW trees). I needed more small size and these were perfect!
The trees are brush style and fully flocked. They are mounted on a plastic standing base. This is fine for basic set up, but I needed to pimp them up a bit. First, I attached washers to the bottom of each base to add some stability. One inch washers fit perfectly! I then pumiced up the bases with brown Vallejo mud. Later on, I drybrushed the bases with tan and then glued on some Scenic Effects summer ground cover. This is the same as I use on my other trees, so these will match up. I finished with a Krylon sealer to lock everything down better.
With that, I have more trees. Because everyone knows you can never have enough trees in wargaming!
