Star Wars Legion Support Droids

Posted on March 8, 2022

I ordered the Star Wars Legion CIS Specialist last year and finally received them when the most recent Kashik wave arrived in December. I ordered two of these, as I wanted a few of each droid. The set comes with hard grey plastic, which each piece well organized on the sprues. They also come with the usual cards and tokens for the game. I pulled out my tweezers and X-Acto went to work removing all the parts. Then came the trimming. This took a little while, but I finished it up without too much trouble. I then glued the droids together with some Tamiya liquid glue.

I decided the scout droids would be black, so I sprayed these panzer grey. I had a resin model that I found online, so I grabbed that and painted it at the same time. Next came the repair and medical droids. These I sprayed with some Army Painter silver. I then sprayed all the bases with some dark brown.

I also sprayed the tactical droids tan and hit these with a wash. Unfortunately, the wash did not dry correctly, so I need to go back and strip and paint these. So, these are not included in this post!

The scout droids were then painted with GW contrast black. I let that dry and hit the models with a lighter gray highlight. I then went back and painted the lenses black and the lights red and white.

The droids were hit with a GW black wash and then highlighted light silver. I hit a few spots with some tin bitz and some red and white lights on these too. I hit the power lines with GW contrast back.

I did not like the mounting rod for the scout droids, so I decided that I would just glue these to the bases. I used one of the rods on the larger scout droid, as I thought it was large enough to look OK with the clear rod. I glued this to one of the brown painted bases. I then painted the flat bottom brown to match the rest of the base. I glued all the rest of the droids to their bases.

I hit all the bases with GW cracked earth and let that dry. Next came a drybrush of Iraqi Sand from Vallejo on all the bases. Next came the spike tufts from Gamers Grass on all the bases. I then attached the scout droids with some white glue. I finished up with some Krylon Dull Coat and these are ready to go. Then I remembered I needed to paint all the glass lenses with some gloss coat, so I went back and did that. Now I just need to go back and finish those Tactical Droids.
