FOW – Bulge American Command Card Review.

Posted on January 31, 2022

If you saw my earlier review of the US Bulge Unit Cards, you know I think it is one of the best sets Battlefront has released for V4. Well, I can say the same for he command cards. These match what was done with the last Normandy SS release. I hope these are the models for the future sets we see. The set comes in the normal card box that you can use for easy storage and transport.

The set includes a host of special new unit types that reflect a number of units that fought in the battle of the bulge and are really flavorful (who would not like to field some US 88s?). We also get variable quality for units and various vehicle upgrades. The most interesting is how they handle US APCR ammo. In V3, these were just included with every vehicle. Now, they are an upgrade, so can be included where appropriate. I prefer this method and hope we see this done for other army (I want some German AP40 short range options!). We get multiple soft transports, with two amphibious options (who does not like to field a DUKW of death). We see the normal Engineer option and a way to field a cavalry formation. Finally, we even get some American funnies!

Next we get a slew of division cards to allow you to upgrade, or downgrade, formations to reflect specific formations. If you follow my blog, you know these are my favorite command cards and what I really look for in these sets. You get some nice US options and the sets to field the Free French (one of my favorites).

We finish with a few more build options for US tanks and some unit upgrades. Not too many, not too few of the latter. I really like the Total Air Superiority option, it just fits. Finally, we have a big selection of special characters. It is interesting that they went all Band of Brothers and have so many airborne options, but I can understand the interest. There are still cards for Patton, Abrams and Murphy, so no worries. Overall, this is a wonderful set for US players and really shows someone at battlefront really loves their US! A surely must buy, just because there is so much flavor on top of the new options.

Nice, I can’t wait to see these in action. It seems to add in a lot of flavor from v3 while keeping it streamlined for the new version.
