Another month, another Wings of War night. With the holidays and everything, we decided to keep it simple and pulled out our WWI planes for some fun
We two games in the course of two hours. Each was a simple scenario with two or three players on a side. The game is just so easy, it is perfect for a quick time filler. The system is great, as there is enough random effects with the damage dice to ensure everyone is both satisfied and frustrated at the same time!
The first game was a simple Tri-Plane vs bomber escort scenario. The allies would win if they bombed the target and left the board. The Germans had to shoot down the allies. As the game went on, it was clear the allied planes were just a little too fast and well armed. The Tri-planes just could not hang, with one being lost and the allies flying off to victory.
In the next game, we had the Germans trying to get home using three two seaters, while the allies tried to shoot them down using fighters and two seaters. The allies were split on the two corners of the board and the Germans had to exit one of the corners (determined randomly). Unfortunately, for the Germans, the corner was where the two fighters were. On the bright side, the allied two seater mis-judged the speed and did not get into the fight until it was too late. The Germans managed to leave the board mostly intact (taking two allied fighters with them), resulting in a German victory!
