After spending the morning at Fort Monroe, it was time for some lunch and following that, a little walk to burn off the carbs! Not far from the fort is a small museum called Airpower Park. We decided to swing by to check it out, since we were in the neighborhood.

Airpower Park has come up on my list of sites to visit in the greater Norfolk area, when I was passing through. It clearly was not a destination location (due to size), but a nice stop location that does not reck the rest of your travel schedule. So, I was finally in the area and the time was right.

The park includes a building that is full of well done model airplane models. These cover planes from all periods and nationalities. It is a small museum and it was nice to see the various model builders work (all top notch). The outside area is the main museum. Here, you will find a number of actual Cold War era aircraft and missiles, spread around the walking loop. It is a nice display and the planes are kept in decent condition, considering they are outside.

We did the loop in the museum and the same outside. We were done in about an hour. A quick bathroom break at the end and we were off! If you are driving through Hampton and like jets, not a bad stop at all!
