I finished up the infantry, so turned to the cavalry for my Ostrogoth army. All are also from Gajo Miniatures painted catalog. I used figures from the medium and armored cavalry lines, as well as the various command figures.
After straightening all the spears and standards, I glued the riders to the horses and organized the units. I followed the same production line. Glued all the cavalry to the Shogun bases. I did separate medium and armored cavalry. Each unit included a commander and a standard. I added two standards to my army commanders unit. Now that everything is done, I think I night go back and add different colored crests to the helmets, just so it stands out better. Have to think about that…..
Once all the glue dried, I did the same Muddy Paw basing on each stand. I used a mix of their tan and a little fieldstone and added an equal mount of brown sand. This darkens the dirt a bit, but till keep the flexibility of the material and ease of use. Once the water spay dried, I added Scenic Express Summer Turf partially to all the bases. All the trays were sprayed with some satin tan that best matched the sides of the magnetic bases.
With that, I have all the cavalry done, to go with the infantry. I have a couple slots open in the box, so I night get three more units….. We shall see! In the meantime, I can say that army is ready to take the field and fight my late Romans!
