Asmodee just keeps pumping out the releases! The newest add for my droid army was a new set of customizable Super Tactical Droids. I did not really need more of these, as I have two of the old ones, but I figured I would pick them up and add some weapons options to the stable.

Well, I went to assemble them and found that there is only on two leg option in the box. The second has to be done with tripod legs. I was not a fan of that and through about finding some other legs, but just decided to go with it… They had a number of gun options but also a power staff. I thought that would be cool, to go with magna guards. So, I would have one fire support and another close combat model.

I wanted to go with a gray skeleton, so I sprayed them with some gray primer to start (I sprayed the base brown). I then hit the models with a black wash and let that set. I then hit all the planned gray areas with a gray drybrush. Next came the carapace armor…. I decided the close combat one would be white with green trim. The tripod one took a bit of thinking. I decided it might work well with some B2s or magna guards. So, I went with a silver with blue trim.

For the white, I painted all the portions with a gray white. I then hit those areas with some black pin wash and highlighted up with some white. I finished of with some green trim here and there and followed with a camo earth shade wash over the larger portions. For the silver one, I hit all the areas with some silver contrast and highlighted it up with some regular silver. I finished off with some blue trim here and there.

I painted up the weapons with contrast black and gray highlight. The staff got the electoral ends with purpose, a black wash and light purple. I finished off painting all the eyes with red or yellow. I was going to add a cloak, but changed my mind.

I finished the bases with my usual crackle technique. With that, I have two more models for the army. I have to admit that I wished I had not added the shoulder pads to the white droid and am not feeling the tripod legs….. Well, they are done, so on to the next project!
