I am continuing my basing barrage and trying to finish up so many of my last yard projects! Next on the assault was a company of French WWII Infantry for the 1940 campaign. With the recent release of the Blitzkrieg army book by Battlefront, I got a bit of additional incentive!

All the figures are from Gajo’s painted miniature line. All are done pretty well and do not need much attention. Just a few things here and there. The most obvious were the helmets.. These came in different colors, depending on the set I got. So, I needed to go back and paint these a uniform color of green for all the troops. I also hit the grenades on the VBL teams the same color to make them stand out.

The only other thing was to paint the Hotchkiss HMGs and openings on the mortars. These were green, so I just hit them with some contrast black. I did all that after I glued the figures to the bases, so it went quickly.

I decided to go with my new favorite Muddy Paw basing for these. I made a mix of the tan and gray colors, with an equal amount of dark brown sand to get a more healthy earthy look. I then hit the base edges with medium earth from Vallejo.

I finished up with some flock and some different tufts. I finished up with some dull coat to lock everything down. With that, I have some infantry to go with my French armor (which mostly has to still be painted….).
