The last few units need a bit more work than just rebasing, so I held off on them for a while. That includes these figures! They were probably my least favorite.

The figures themselves are done by Gajo and I believe are Old Glory (but not sure). They were done in the foundry style. However, I felt a bit heavy handed between shades. Since I was rebasing them, I figured I should do what I could to make them look at least a little nicer…

I started with applying a sepia wash over all the red, tan and flesh sections. Wicking away from the eyes. I hoped this would tone down some of the paler colors, as well as the black shading (making it look a little browner). I hit a few areas with red, just to highlight. Next I hit all the bonnets with some blue contrast paint and then with a blue highlight.

Then there was the hard part! I did not like how the tartan was done. It is the royal style, but the green was a bit weird and there were far too few checks of green. I was going to paint these all, but then remembered I had a green paint pen from AK! So, I went to work one evening and repainted all the exiting lines and added a bunch more (not sure they show up with the photos though). Once that dried, I hit everything with a black wash to give some depth to the cloth.

With the painting done, I based them up like all the other troops! These probably took the most work. They still aren’t the best, but I think they suit me a bit better now.
