Next on the hit parade are my Virginia Militia. These models were purchased from Gajo a while back. I needed some variation from my Pennsylvania troops and figured these would work. I had mounted these on the GW bases, like everything else and now have them on my new basing.

The original models are done in the Foundry method. They are not as nicely done as some of my other troops, but they fill the bill. Since I decided to rebase them, I figured it would be a good time to pimp up a few things I did not like.

First, I thought the blue was a bit drab from my taste (probably more realistic though!). So, I found some old GW glazes in my paint box and applied it to all the blue areas. They were already shaded, so I did not want to use a wash.

Next was the flesh and facings. I thought the shade was a bit pale, especially against the black. So, I just painted this with GW Sepia. I wicked the pooling away for more of a stain on the flat areas and let the deeper areas capture the brown to tone down the black. I also wicked away around the eyes, so these would not be shaded out!

Doing these guys, I realized that maybe eight guys per squad was not enough… So maybe another order to Gajo!

The basing is the same as all the other troops and these guys are ready to go and will be in my next game!
