With the new lines of Crescent Root buildings coming out, I opted to take a pass on most of the offerings, as I did not have a need for them. I did pick up the 6mm line to fill some holes. However, I was really waiting for the series II buildings. These are now available, so I went ahead and ordered a model of each (I did not order the walls, as I have plenty!)

At this point, there are four buildings of different height and foot print. All are now 3d printed from PLA. The scan lines are visible on the interior connector pieces, just so yo know. However, all exposed exterior and interior areas are totally free of any mold evidence. I am not sure if he fills them, sands them or just has a really good printer, but the casts are very clean.

The new 28mm design has a much better floor set up than Crescent Roots earlier out of print designs. It used to be you had to lift the higher floor up out of the buildings (often meaning I did not use the inner extra floors). Now, he does each floor as a separate piece, so you can just lift up the level you want (similar to GF9). To make sure the sections stay put on the table, he has inserted magnets to hold the floors in place. The roofs are not magnetized, but ditched to match the timbers on the roofs themselves to stay in place. So, no falling over buildings!

The painting detail is done in a very nice rough worn style that makes the buildings stand out. Each type of material is painted differently to reflect the appropriate surface look. The color choices tie everything together.

I should probably do a comparison to the earlier lines (since I have them), at some point. I guess I will need to sort out my storage and pull everything out for a future post!

All in all, the buildings are nicely done and at a reasonable price. If your looking for some 28mm buildings, Crescent Root is worth a look!
