TJ and I had been talking about going on another road trip and checking out historical sites in rural New York. Well, we had chatted it up for a while, but not really seriously. Then a few weeks ago, after one of our afternoon games, we got serious and decided to get going. A little help from ChapGPT to find destinations and some routing, followed by some logistics from TJ and we had a plan in less than a week! Two weeks later, we were on the road heading to New York.

Our first stop on the way to our hotel in Buffalo was Fort Augusta in Sunbury Pennsylvania. We did not know much about the location, but figured it would be a good stretch of the our legs. Well, it took us circling around the block a couple of times to find it…. Unfortunately, the museum itself was closed.. It was only a small building, so I do not think we missed much. While staggering around the building, we found the fort! Well, at least a 1/6th scale version of one…. We did not bring our GI Joes, so we could not get the full effect… Basically, it was a nice model that you can walk around.

We looked for the old magazine on the grounds and finally saw that all that was left was a shaft and we had to walk through some personal property to get to it, so we decided we had seen enough and it was time to head to our hotel. At least we got to stretch our legs on a long drive and it would only get better from here!
