I was poking around YouTube a few months ago and found a video from the site Battlestar Collectica in my feed. I checked it out, as it was in reference to some ship models. The video went over some new offerings from Master Replica of various Battlestar Galactica collectible items. Included was a review of a new Colonial Viper and Cylon Raider, from the original 1978 TV show. They are not from the newer Sci Fy channel show that was out more recently (of which I am not a fan).

I have a soft spot for that show and watched it in my youth. As such, I have an interest in some of the collectibles. I never actually picked up much for the show, except a couple of model kits (which have been sitting on my shelf needing a point job). As such, these to offerings looked like they would be a nice add to my hobby room.

Watching the video, I was interested in the kits, as they seemed to be painted to a nice standard. I checked out the website and saw the price was affordable for both ships (only $69 each). So, I clicked both and ordered them! They arrived a few days ago, from jolly old England.

Both models come in a nice black box, showing pictures of the models. These are similar to what one would see from Star Wars black series models, if you are familiar with them. They are packed in white Styrofoam, as single piece models. The display stand comes in two pieces and snaps together (clear support and black base). The kits just sit/clip on the bases.

I took the models out of the boxes and set them up (as I took pictures). As these are collectibles, I kept the boxes in put them in a closet with my other collectible boxes (should I ever decide to sell them).

With that, I now have a couple of nice display models for my shelf, to go along with my other Sci Fi stuff. If you are into collectibles for the original Battlestar Galactica, I definitely recommend you check these out, while they are available. Now, maybe I should pull out my Battlestar and Base Ship models and actually paint them…..
