Withe the news that Gajo was getting out of the painted miniature business, I have been looking to fill out gaps in my existing armies, while I can. One of the forces I needed was a small Russian Army for Napoleonics. I currently have a decent sized Prussian force for 1813/14 and figured I would get the Russian forces for the Bernadot’s force (I still need some Swedes).

I looked up the OOB and scaled that to play BBB for the forces I wanted. I did everything at six bases worth of troops to cover all the battles and also give me options should I want to play smaller scaled battles with Valour and Fortitude.

The figures all arrived and I glued them down to metal bases that I had sprayed green. I had to go back and adjust the facings on the dragoons to have different units (they only had one unit in stock). I pulled out flags I had in my folder (I think they were all Cotton Jims) and affixed those with white glue and water, shaping them after the glue had set for about thirty minutes.

I then pulled out the flock and Geo Hex Green paint and went to work. I painted each base and then dipped them in the flock and tapped off the excess.

I finished off the project with some Tamiya dull coat spray, hitting the flags with an extra coat (for more hardening). With that, I finally have my long wanted Russian force (although, I could use Hussars and Lancers…).

Very nice. Looking forward to seeing these in action.
