The last set of planes I had for my Germans was a pair of FW-190Ds. These would give me a late war option for my troops. The planes both came in other sets that I had purchased and were technically extras. Each had its own scheme, neither of which was working for me!

I started with an RLM blue on the bottom and then hit the top with an RLM bright green and olive (I do not remember the numbers) equivalent from Vallejo. I added some green mottling to the tail area. I then hit the canopy with some blue and hit the engine, prop and guns with some black. The engine is not sculpted well, so I decided to just go with a black prop to help hide that imperfection. I then sprayed the plane with a Krylon matt that is actually satin to finish it up.

Next came the decals. I had started work on this plane with the Stuka and had the same problem. No appropriate decals (mainly the black outline crosses and white crosses at the same size). So, I added the magnets and set these aside with the Stukas, while I awaited my online order to arrive to finish the planes. The decals arrived and I went to work and applied them all. I had an issue with the fuselage band decal and had to give up on that….

Once the decals had set, I hit the models with the same Krylon matt spray. I then painted the gloss on the glass canopy sections. At this point, I decided to add the fuselage band myself with some blue paint. With that, I have some late war air support. Even more exciting, I have finally finished all the Axis and Allies planes that I planned to do for my armies. I can call the project finished! I do own some resin gliders and spotter planes in my box, but these are going to have to wait for another day, as I think I am aircraft outed for a while. Besides, I have Pacific theater stuff to do with the new FOW Pacific release!
