While going through my pile of shame looking for Pacific war stuff, I came across a few trays of other troops that I started, but never finished…. I had a huge basement project last year that required me pack up all my stuff until the work was done. Well, one of the things I was working on was finishing up my Italian desert infantry forces.

I found the trays and remembered that I had only started the basing on these, so decided I needed to rectify that. Well, with the word that Gajo will be getting out of the painted miniatures business once their stocks run out, I figured I should fill in any holes that I had, so ordered even more!

Specifically, I wanted enough motorcycles to mount a Bersigliari company. So, I went ahead and ordered them while working on pumicing the exiting backlog. Well, in-between pumicing and working on airplanes, the new shipment arrived and I switched gears and started working on them to get them to the same level as my other stuff.

I assembled all the bikes (I did have a challenge in lining up the handle bars and hands (I guess they are getting ready to rest). I attached them to bases and did the pumicing, using a Vallejo tan that I used on the other troops. Once this dried, I dry brushed the bases with dark and light sand. I then added tan tufts from gamers grass. I had just enough to finish the bikes, so I need to buy more to do the other troops. Some tan paint on the base edges and I have my three platoons worth of troops and two heavy weapon sections, ready for the next sweeping desert action!
