This batch of planes was a last minute add to the project. I had two extra Hurricanes from the batch purchases of Axis and Allies planes I bought on eBay. I had originally thought I would sell them. However, I remembered that Belgium had some of these that they used in the 1940 campaign. So, I pulled them out of the sell box and got to work on them. The original planes were in British schemes (not surprisingly). However, the color choices were a bit weird. The earth brown was a dark gray brown and the green was a dark olive drab. It was clear these would need some major work.

I started with the bottoms. Belgian Hurricanes were aluminum not light gray, so I wet brushed the entire bottoms with light silver. I then did the same with the earth brown and olive green on the top surfaces. This wiped out all the marking (which was intended). I then painted the black on the guns, exhaust and intakes. Next the contrast blue on the cockpit, followed up with the olive green again on the cage work.

I had picked up some Belgian decals online and affixed these (the roundels were two stacked decals to get better coverage and color). I added some numbers on the tails and to the underside wings. There is supposed to be an H marking on the other with, but I could not find these, so just skipped that. I am sure someone will pick up the plane and comment at some point! I sealed the planes up with the normal Krylon Matt spray and painted the glass with gloss coat. With that, my Belgians have some air support! Even if it was a last minute add decision…
