Monster Apocalypse has had a booth at most of the HMGS conventions the last few years. Part of their booth includes bins of loose marked down terrain. This year was no different! In addition to their normal stuff, they included bins with miscellaneous items. They have small boxes (Chinese carry out style) were you could fill them up with what you wanted a pay a discounted price (I do not remember the price unfortunately). Anyway, I took the plunge and started filling up my little container with stuff. I had posted some of the sci fi items I painted recently on the site.

The last bits I bought were some benches, that I thought would add a little character to my Legion terrain. Well, let us say that in my rush, I had no idea how many benches I picked up! I may have overdone it a bit…. Clearly, there will be no one standing in my towns….

The other item I decided I wanted for my towns were some tree planters. My thought was that I would get some discs to place down around tree models that I had that are mounted on round washers. This would be a clean way to add some greenery.

I took a walk through the pluming isle at Home Depot and looked at the different options. I am also cheap, so I did not want to spent too much! I found some plumbing gasket sets for a dollar each and thought they would fit the bill.

I opted to go with green for the benches, as I wanted them for my Naboo board. So, I sprayed these with some olive green and later hit them with a green armor wash from Vallejo. I finished up with a light green drybrush and a satin varnish spray.

The washers were all sprayed with Krylon primer gray and later hit with a black wash. I then hit them with two levels of gray drybrush and sealed them with some Krylon Matt for a satin finish.

With that, I finally finished my Monster terrain, right before the next conventions. Now I just need to finish my buildings so I can use the stuff in a game!
